First Congregational United Church of Christ
Albuquerque, New Mexico
An open and affirming, peace with justice congregation
Our Mission: To assist homeless families in the Albuquerque community to achieve and sustain independence.
Family Promise of Albuquerque is a local 501 (c) 3, non-profit and an affiliate of a national organization called Family Promise.
Family Promise works alongside faith communities, city-wide agencies and other organizations to provide shelter, meals, intensive case management services, life-skills assessment and guidance, a day center, transportation, and, through a focus on volunteer hospitality, an opportunity for public awareness of families experiencing homelessness.
First Congregational supplies space for the Family Promise day center in the church basement. Also, church members volunteer to assist with meals and overnight stays several times a year when Family Promise guests are staying at nearby St. Timothy's Lutheran Church. First Congregational Church members Susanna Cooper and Mary Browne currently serve on the Family Promise of Albuquerque board of directors, and James Cooper is the volunteer coordinator for our church. Scott Patterson is the Board Chair and Jennifer Broderick is the Executive Director.
Jennifer Broderick and her assistant, Louis Packer are available to receive donations Monday - Friday. Please call the church for more information: (505) 265-5749.
